"If you want to achieve something, you got to work for it." - Aidan Gleason
English/History Artifact:

For History, one of the favorite things I did was create a youtube video with 2 other learners: Aidan Gleason and Julia D. In this youtube video, we discussed an issue we wanted the congress/president to address. Our group decided to discuss California's housing crisis and how housing prices have risen over the years. This project was very memorable for me because I did it with one of my close friends: Aidan Gleason. Although the project took time and effort, having the time to talk with my friend during quarantine, and work on the same assignment with him was fun. It made me more motivated and determined to do the project.

Each year, in ACLC, the facilitators involve the students in a science project. In the science project, learners are required to create experimental questions. With the question, learners will create an experiment or construct a model to answer the question. Back in 10th grade, I made a project relating to sound and which soundproofing materials are the most effective. After the learners finish their projects, they then present in front of UC Berkeley students. When the UC Berkeley student graded my project, he gave me an A, including a 2nd place ribbon. Depending on how good a learner's project is, you can earn a 1st place, 2nd place, or 3rd place ribbon. This made me very proud of my project because, in the previous years, I never had an A. Not only this, but my project got voted to be the most visually appealing. Overall, this science fair was more memorable compared to others because of how well I did.

Senior Seminar Artifact:

In Senior Seminar, learners from that class must spend 20 hours working on their senior project. It is required to graduate at ACLC. My senior project was planning the Senior Trip. Due to COVID, the teacher Jon and I were confused about how we would plan the trip. Eventually, we decided that learners can earn hours by helping out with other school activities. One school activity I helped out with was Trivia Night. In Trivia Night, Jon Mahoney was the host, while I was the co-host. Jon Mahoney told me to complete the music and the sports category. After spending a couple of hours working on the google slides, I finished. Jon and I then discussed how we would present the slides. A couple of days later, Trivia Night began. The reason I am proud of Trivia Night is because of how successful it went. Although there were some questions where learners could try to contest, most people had a fun time. Not only that but, everyone was respectful. People even complimented me that I was a good co-host. Considering their advice, I felt very proud of my work and that night. I made a lot of good memories there.
